Finding Eleven
Posted on November 14 2016
Late last week, I received a message from my friend Michelle about an abandoned bunny that was found living in some bushes near my neighbourhood. After her attempts to catch her had failed, she got in touch with me to see if I could help. During one of her rescue attempts, she snapped a photo of this little lionhead lop standing on the sidewalk. The picture broke my heart and I knew I had to help.
On the morning of November 11, my husband and I set out to find her. We packed a bag of veggies to lure her out, a small enclosure to keep her from running away and a pet carrier to transport her. We were given an address and her approximate location.
Luckily, we found her right away, sitting in the bushes near the road. We quietly unpacked our ârescue kitâ and got to work. I scattered some veggies around to lure her out into the open grass and she hopped right out. As she munched on the medley of baby carrots, cilantro and romaine lettuce, I inched closer and closer towards her with the pet carrier in tow. Meanwhile, my partner in crime set up the enclosure to prevent her from running away. After a few minutes spent gaining her trust, we were able to guide her into the pet carrier without issue. Success!
Since she was rescued on November 11, we decided to name her âElevenâ or âEllieâ for short. We checked her for injuries and wiped the mud from her body. Through it all, Ellie would grind her teeth in happiness to let us know she enjoyed all the attention we were giving her.
Within a few hours, Eleven made herself right at home. Watching her flopped comfortably on the floor, I felt so happy that she was warm and safe. She is extremely friendly and trusting, despite being abandoned and left to fend for herself. Â
Today, we took Eleven to visit our rabbit vet and she was given a clean bill of health! Next week she has an appointment to get spayed.
After living alone on the street, Eleven will be pampered and loved for the rest of her days.Â
Thanks for reading her story.

What a sweet story. Haha I knew Eleven’s name was inspired by the show Stranger Things.
Are you going to keep her permanently ? I hope so. Sweet baby needs a good home
Thanks so much for your kindness heart to save this little angel ???
Awesome! I follow the whole brood on IG and FB and know that Ellie will be very happy staying with the Bunny Bunch! Rams and Eddy are happily binkying OTRB knowing another bunny was saved. Awesome job Bunnymama, Bunnypapa, Moo, Tato, and Yam!!!
She is the luckiest bunny in the world to be rescued by such caring humans. So glad you found her! Also, I love her name :)
Thank goodness for Bunny Families like you! Happy to hear Ellie has a clean bill of health and hasn’t let abandonment get her spirit down! Much love, binkies, and treats, from me and my bunnies, Almond, Thom, and Joey.
Hey, good job Rabbit wRanglers!
